Village Green Welcomes Spudshed
August 2026A new chapter has begun for Village Green, with the official opening of Spudshed Waterford, delivering around-the-clock grocery shopping to the Karawara community and a major boost to the centre’s retail offering.
The store officially opened on 25 June 2026 and represents a significant milestone. The new supermarket replaces the former IGA tenancy and introduces a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week grocery destination for local residents, Curtin University students, workers and visitors.
Behind the scenes, the opening marks the culmination of extensive planning, leasing, and coordination efforts involving numerous stakeholders over many months. Lease Equity is proud to have played a key role in this process, working closely with Village Green ownership and management to help facilitate the introduction of Spudshed to the centre. The successful opening reflects the strength of partnership between Village Green, Spudshed, and Lease Equity in bringing this tenancy to lifE.
Lease Equity’s involvement extended beyond the leasing process too, with members of the team attending the opening celebrations and assisting on the day as the community gathered to welcome the new store. The event attracted strong crowds, with shoppers taking advantage of opening specials, entertainment (including DJ sets), giveaways and family activities.
For Spudshed, the opening is particularly significant, representing the company’s 20th store and first major metropolitan expansion in several years. The new location reinforces the brand’s ongoing growth while bringing its well-known combination of fresh produce and value-driven grocery shopping.
Village Green is now home to a diverse mix of retailers, dining operators and services and, as the crowds continue to visit, the successful launch of Spudshed Waterford stands as an exciting milestone for all those involved.
